When I hear the name Jacqueline Bisset I immediately think of legendary status, classic Hollywood starlet, and of course grace and beauty. Bisset’s career spans seven decades. She’s appeared in some notable and memorable films such as Bullit, The Deep and Murder on the Orient Express and her latest film Loren & Rose.
I had a chance to speak with Jacqueline about her role in Loren & Rose. She also spoke about her “legacy”. Plus, she reveals her strong feelings about a particular thing in the arts community.
REAL TALK:
The thing that immediately strikes me about Jacqueline Bisset is her classic ageless beauty and her candid demeanor. Jacqueline commands a presence and you listen to her when she talks because whenever I hear her talk she has something interesting and thought-provoking to say.
She seemed very passionate about Loren & Rose when she spoke about her role and the film. When she spoke of her legacy I was surprised to hear her mention wanting to be remembered for films like Loren & Rose. That’s pretty surprising considering she’s been part of some classic films and playing alongside fellow Hollywood legends. So her speak this highly of a small indie took me aback a little.
I mentioned earlier that Jacqueline is candid and outspoken. Well she certainly demonstrated that when she spoke about her displeasure with the term “artist”. Her case for it was that being an artist is not something that should be thrown around loosely, it’s a title that’s earned and not everyone can become one. Too many actors call themselves artists and haven’t accomplished anything or barely have any credits to their name. I agree with Jacqueline on this point. Coming from a legend like her, it just speaks volumes and means something.
Loren & Rose is a film that feels and looks like theatrical play. It’s heavy on dialogue and brings up some interesting topics between the characters. Jacqueline Bisset is fantastic opposite Kelly Blatz.
LOREN & ROSE will be released in select theaters beginningJune 23rd. The film will also be paired withThe Sleepy Time Gal
